- Hi there!
-
- Welcome to this first preview version of Voodoo. This message is an
- introductory note to the finer points of the Voodoo interface. Please take
- the time to first read through the whole message, and follow the instructions
- in it. This should give you some idea of how to use Voodoo.
-
- MIME is one of the most important things in Voodoo. MIME is an Internet
- standard for including binary data such as pictures or sound in an email
- message. I'm going to try to introduce you to how to use this in Voodoo.
-
- Take a look at the row of buttons above. That is the speedbar. On the left end
- of that speedbar are the function buttons for manipulating the folder and its
- messages. In order, there are Quit Voodoo, Iconify, Open new folder, Send new
- mail, Delete message, Save to folder, Reply to this message, Select previous
- message and Select next message.
-
- After these function buttons are buttons for each of the parts of the
- currently selected message. The first of these is now depressed, since you are
- reading this first part of the message. Each of the message part buttons has
- an icon that somehow represents the contents of that part. Click now on the
- next part, labeled "README". That's the Voodoo README, included in this
- message.
-
- You're back? Okay, great. Next on the line are a few picture and audio
- buttons, try them all out. If you need to scroll the speedbar to view more
- buttons, just hold down the shift key, press left mouse button while the
- pointer is over the speedbar, and drag right. To come back, repeat the same
- thing dragging left. To play the audio, select that part and then click on the
- audio button that is showed by the datatype in this message view.
-
- Had enough of that yet? You should now finish the Voodoo configuration. Press
- ramiga-1 or select the Settings/Global menu option. If at any point you feel
- lost, pressing the Help key will bring up the online documentation. While
- configuring folders, remember that they are directories, not files. To import
- your old mail folders from for example AmigaElm, copy the mailbox file to
- RAM:temp, set Voodoo's "spool file" to that file, and use "get new mail".
-
- For more information, check the README and Voodoo.guide. In particular, you
- might have to set up a mail delivery agent such as SMTPpost for sending mail.
- I have included helpful notes about doing that in Voodoo.guide. Don't forget
- to check that if you're having problems.
-
- In case you want to contact me, just hit "R" now. Well, you do need to have
- SMTPpost configured first..
